History

The neighbourhood has a long history which unfolds in the Scythian  times, which is evidenced by archaeological finds of the Bronze Age, mounds of Scythian times, settlements of the first centuries AD. and Roman coins of the 2nd century BC. is.

In the 14th and early 15th centuries, the Tatar fortress Chichaklei stood at the place where the Mertvovod River flows into the Southern Bug. Grand Duke Vytautas of Lithuania destroyed the fortress and built a castle in its place.

The history of the town of Sokoly, an ancestor of the Voznesensk community,  originated from those times.

The town of Voznesensk itself was founded in 1795 and named after the church holiday of the Ascension [“Voznesinnya” – in Ukrainian transcription] of the Lord, therefore the Town Day is celebrated every year on a different day – this holiday.

The Voznesensk community is located at the intersection of three ways: the Southern Bug River, the national roads Kyiv – Kherson and Odesa – Dnipro, and the Odesa – Kyiv railway.

There are unique large lakes of fresh drinking water underneath the town. They are one of the sources of mineral water here.

Economy

The community is one of the largest suppliers of fresh radish in Ukraine.

In the village of Rakove, Voznesensk community, you can buy delicious and freshest crayfish.

There are 16 different sand and granite quarries around the community. Some of them have formed artificial lakes.Today, there are 5 enterprises operating in the town which specialize in leather tanning and decoration, tailoring of women’s clothing and special wear for police, military and emergency services, production of building materials (bricks, tiles and foam concrete). Also, the facilities of the Sokolivske beer brewery are located and the Voznesensk food and flavouring factory is in operation here.
