After that, russian troops shelled the community two more times. Hitting the coast of the Shabolat Estuary and the village of Chabanske led to significant destruction.Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, kindergartens, schools, and almost 120 residential buildings have been damaged in the Serhiivka Community. Nine of them will never be restored.

Serhiivka Community life in wartime
History
Serhiivka is the administrative centre of the community and the largest balneo-mud resort in the south of Ukraine. The area of the resort is 640 hectares, including 82 hectares of green areas.
The first mention of the settlement dates back to 1889. In the late 19th century, the Odesa Scientific Society of Resort Experts began studying the Shabolat Estuary, which is located in the territory of the present-day Serhiivka Community. That is when the healing factors of the resort were discovered.
In 1970-1990, the tourist boom of the community began. At that time, there were 8 sanatoriums, 10 children’s health camps, 19 recreation centres and a hotel complex. A bridge was built along the estuary. He connected the mainland with the Black Sea.Not all the villages of the community have wide long sandy beaches with clear sea and loose white sand. There are also fertile chornozems used for agricultural purposes. In 2016, the St. Sergius of Radonezh Church was opened. The church was built in the Boiky & Hutsuly style and has its own vineyard. It is an exact copy of the architectural monument of national importance in the Chernivtsi Region – the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah. Materials for construction were made in the same village according to the exact dimensions of the temple.
Development Strategy
The Serhiivka Settlement Council is drafting its development strategy for 2023-2029. The main objectives include:
- Transition from a seasonal to a year-round resort due to the installation of a thermal water well. This will allow providing services throughout the year and will ensure a significant increase in income for the Community.
- Implementation of the STAND WITH UKRAINE project – rehabilitation of servicemen, civilians and children who received combat and mental injuries as a result of military operations. Using the facilities of the sanatorium and the developed medical resources, the project will help provide assistance to everyone who needs rehabilitation.
- Creation of an eco-resort by way of rehabilitation and restoration of the Shabolat estuary ecosystem.
- Reconstruction of five mineral water wells, which have not been used for more than 20 years, but within a year the Serhiivka Settlement Council managed to restore one and ensure permanent filling.
- Implementation of the Flower Community project – restoration and development of green infrastructure facilities in the Community by opening a nursery.
- Construction of a waste sorting plant in the territory of the Serhiivka Territorial Community.
