People of the Community

The head of the Komarno Territorial Community – Ihor Cherevychnyk – was elected during the snap election held in October 2021 and is presently the mayor.A nongovernmental organization “Revival of the Village of Hrimne” works in the village of Hrimne, which is an organization covering the current news and problems of the Hrimne starosta-headed district.

Implemented projects:

Since there is currently no fire station in the community, a volunteer fire brigade consisting of 4 people (employees of the hospital and the town council) was formed in April 2023. There are two fire engines and all the necessary equipment so that the guys could save people’s lives and buildings in time.In 2023, the implementation of a strategic project for the community began – the reconstruction of the Monastyrets-Poliana bridge, which was destroyed back in 2008. The construction of the new bridge started back in the 2000s, but it was suspended. Thanks to the efforts of the head of the community together with the employees of the town council, government funds were obtained for the restoration of the bridge, which is planned to be completed by the end of 2023.Energy efficiency is one of the priority areas of the community, which is why some institutions are switching to alternative energy sources. The municipal hospital has already started to use a solid fuel boiler, and now the same project is being implemented in the Blooming Cherry kindergarten in the village of Peremozhne.

History

The centre of the community is the town of Komarno. The first written mention dates back to 1471.Having been granted the Magdeburg rights in 1473, the then village of Komarno automatically received the status of a town. In the same year, a castle was built in the town as well as the first wooden church. The oldest architectural landmark in the Lviv Region is the monument at the entrance to Komarno. It was built in honour of a local landowner who died in a battle with the Tatars. One of the most remarkable buildings of the community is the wooden Church of the Assumption of the Holy Virgin of 1603 located on a hill in the village of Klitsko.
